Description of the project
The Transocean drilling rig “Development Driller II” was prepared to sail under the bridge at Bosphorus near Instanbul and in to the Black Sea to operate in Romanian waters. To o enable a passing under the bridge the upper part of the drilling tower needs to be dismantled due to limitation of height. This operation involves a horizontal skidding (L=23.8m) and a lowering (H=34.6m) and later up-jacking operation of the upper part of the drilling tower.
The objective for our work was to verify the structural strength of the temporary installed transport grillage structure and the existing structure of main deck under loads which occur
during jacking operations and transportation phase.
Load and material factors are according to DNV-OS-C101. The structural code check of the beam members have been performed according to EN 1993 1-1, by use of STAAD.Pro consist of yield check and buckling check.
FE stress analysis according to DNV-OS-C101, by use of ANSYS Mechanical consist of yield check.
